As we know, the blessing is something good that we are grateful for. We can be blessed in different manners. Other people are inspired to count their blessings starting from simple and basic needs like food and shelter, to relationships with family, to a good life and abundance.
We always pray for God's blessings. We often pray for protection, healing, and prosperity. Whenever we didn't get want or suffered tremendously, we doubt God's goodness, we challenged Him. We are desperate for answers for our aches and sufferings. And worst, we lose faith.
During our dark days, we can listen to Laura Story's song Blessings and will find a different perspective on what blessing really is.
Blessings
Laura Story
We pray for blessings We pray for peace Comfort for family, protection while we sleep We pray for healing, for prosperity We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering All the while, You hear each spoken need Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things
'Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops What if Your healing comes through tears What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
We pray for wisdom Your voice to hear We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near We doubt your goodness, we doubt your love As if every promise from Your Word is not enough All the while, You hear each desperate plea And long that we'd have faith to believe
When friends betray us When darkness seems to win We know that pain reminds this heart That this is not our home
What if my greatest disappointments Or the aching of this life Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can't satisfy What if trials of this life The rain, the storms, the hardest nights Are your mercies in disguise?

I break into tears every time I hear this song. It conveys that we can be blessed in our difficult times. Disappointments, trials, and tears are what it takes for us to feel God and want His salvation. That this life is temporary, all we have here is just a speck of His plan. The material blessings and good life we enjoy from day to day have endings. It can never satisfy our mortal existence. God's love is great to give us lesser things than what He had stored for us, His Kingdom.
The ultimate blessing that God has given is the new life and forgiveness that comes through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ.
